Job Description:
As an integral part of this 19 physician practice and team of Advanced Care providers with specialties in spine, joint replacements, shoulder, hand, foot, ankle, sports medicine and general orthopaedics, this position focuses on the management of the orthopaedic patient in the office with the opportunity to deliver patient care independently. Evaluate patients whose symptoms may be questionable and determine whether it is a spine issue or other extremity issue. The PA will work predominately with 3 high volume adult spine reconstruction surgeons.  The PA will be required to do rounds on patients every a.m. before the start of the day. The PA will provide high quality medical care to the Orthopaedic patients of UMSJMC as well as in external clinical settings. Evaluate and treat office patients independently. Diagnosis of spine/orthopaedic disorders and order appropriate studies then communicate info to the appropriate attending physician. Provide patient history and physical exams and will evaluate the medical status of patients under physician’s supervision. Document findings on appropriate designated forms and write orders and perform a series of medical procedures under the supervision of a physician.  Perform daily physical exams, wound check, bandage change, writing orders, completely document information in the patient’s chart including discharge and transfer summaries.

What You Need to Be Successful:
1-2 yrs experience as a PA in an Orthopaedic setting.  Equally comfortable in a high volume office, visiting patients on the unit.
