From Kathy Mulford, M.S., CRNP, ONP-C.
and Ira L. Fedder, PharmD, M.D.:
"Over the last 15-20 years we have experienced the profound impact osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures have on our patients and their families. Osteoporosis affects nearly 10 million individuals in the United States alone thereby adding millions of dollars to the cost of health care.
At Towson Orthopaedic Associates we have seen many patients at risk or affected by osteoporosis and now plan to participate in the prevention as well as the subsequent treatment of the fractures. Many times these patients and their families have little knowledge about this disease as well as effective methods to both treat and prevent osteoporosis.
Dr. Fedder and I have taken the initiative to develop the Center for Osteoporosis at Towson Orthopaedic Associates. It is one of our goals to provide patients and their families with knowledge regarding osteoporosis, including prevention and treatment. We are creating this center to include evaluation and management, appropriate diagnostic testing, education, physical therapy, and nutritional guidance. We have developed a team of health care professionals with expertise in orthopedics, physical therapy, nutrition, endocrinology, rheumatology and radiology to provide guidance and support for the patient with osteopenia/osteoporosis. We are now accepting patient referrals for the evaluation and management of individuals at risk for osteopenia/osteoporosis or currently diagnosed with osteopenia/osteoporosis in need of or desiring continued management. We look forward to working with you and your patients."
Sincerely,
Kathy Mulford, M.S., CRNP, ONP-C.
