Alvin J. Detterline, M.D.

Dr. Detterline attended Wake Forest University where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. degree in Physics and Chemistry. He received his M.D. degree from Indiana University. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Detterline received his fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

Dr. Detterline specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy (including knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, and ankle), knee and shoulder reconstructive surgery, and general orthopaedics. He has a special interest in
  • All knee ligament injuries including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
  • Knee articular cartilage and meniscus injuries
  • Shoulder rotator cuff conditions
  • Shoulder instability (dislocations) and labral tears
  • Arthroscopic surgery of the hip including treatment of labral tears
