Towson Orthopaedic Associates is pleased to welcome Dr. Anthony Machi and Dr. Alexander Adams to our team of orthopaedic specialists. We are excited for them to begin seeing patients and to bring their skills and experience to our practice.
Both physicians will help us meet the growing demand for care in their respective specialties, increasing our capacity to see patients more quickly while maintaining the high standard of treatment our community expects. Anthony Machi, MD - Sports Medicine & Arthroscopic Surgery
Dr. Machi will join our Bel Air office beginning August 25. He is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, specializing in joint preservation and the arthroscopic treatment of knee, shoulder, and hip injuries. His clinical expertise includes ACL and ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage restoration, hip impingement surgery, labral and abductor tendon repair, rotator cuff reconstruction, and shoulder stabilization. He also performs unicompartmental knee replacement and manages a wide range of general orthopaedic injuries.
Dr. Machi is skilled in advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques, with additional expertise in both anatomic and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. His treatment philosophy emphasizes non-operative care whenever possible, focusing on safe and efficient return to activity using proven, evidence-based methods.
After completing his orthopaedic residency at Jefferson Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Machi pursued fellowship training at the renowned Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, where he was part of the medical team caring for professional and collegiate athletes, including the Cincinnati Bengals and FC Cincinnati. Alexander J. Adams, MD – Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery
Dr. Adams will begin seeing patients at our Bel Air and Bellona Avenue offices on September 5. He is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery, including microsurgical and microvascular techniques. His clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, with a subspecialty focus on complex elbow injuries.
Dr. Adams treats carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes, tendon and ligament injuries, nerve compression and peripheral nerve disorders, fractures, arthritis, and pediatric upper extremity conditions. He incorporates minimally invasive arthroscopy, joint preservation and replacement, and reconstructive microsurgery to restore both function and aesthetics.
A Maryland native, Dr. Adams graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University before earning his medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He completed residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, followed by a prestigious fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. He has contributed extensively to orthopaedic research, authoring over 27 peer-reviewed publications and 60 abstracts, and has served in teaching roles at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital.
