Dr. Adams is new to our practice and will be joining our team of expert physicians on September 8th.
Dr. Alexander J. Adams is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery, with advanced fellowship training in microsurgery. He treats a wide range of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, including nerve compression syndromes, tendon injuries, fractures, arthritis, sports-related injuries, and pediatric upper extremity conditions. His expertise includes joint preservation, arthroscopy, joint replacement, soft tissue reconstruction, and complex elbow cases.
Dr. Adams earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, graduating magna cum laude, and his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, followed by fellowship training in hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
An active researcher and educator, Dr. Adams has authored over 27 peer-reviewed publications and more than 60 abstracts, and has held clinical and teaching roles at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. He has provided care for professional athletes in the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, and MLS, as well as collegiate athletes from numerous Division I programs.
Dr. Adams is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Association for Hand Surgery. He is affiliated with UM St. Joseph Medical Center, Ruxton Surgicenter, and SurgCenter of Bel Air, and sees patients at the Bel Air and Bellona Avenue offices of Towson Orthopaedic Associates.
