Dr. Brian Mulliken is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, knee arthroscopy, and general orthopaedics. He has over 25 years of experience treating hip and knee arthritis, with a focus on degenerative joint disease and the aging athlete.
Dr. Mulliken is fellowship-trained in joint replacement and manages a wide range of complex cases, including revision surgeries, severe deformities, and patients with obesity. He has a particular interest in bilateral total knee replacements and performs more of these procedures than any other surgeon in the region. He utilizes minimally invasive surgical techniques when appropriate and prioritizes well-established, proven methods for patient care.
He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the University of Iowa. He went on to complete a fellowship in joint replacement at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Mulliken is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Mulliken has been recognized multiple times as a Baltimore Magazine Top Doctor in Orthopaedic Surgery. He has also received the Patient’s Choice Award, the Compassionate Doctor Recognition from Vitals.com, and was honored with the Healing Hands Guild award at UM St. Joseph Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and is affiliated with UM St. Joseph Medical Group and Ruxton SurgiCenter.
