Richard D. Winakur, M.D.

Dr. Richard D. Winakur is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint preservation, and general orthopaedics. His clinical interests include shoulder, hip, and knee conditions, as well as joint replacement and minimally invasive treatment of sports-related injuries.

Dr. Winakur earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he also completed his orthopaedic surgery residency. He went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and has been board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 2005.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has served as a team physician for McDonogh School Athletics. He is affiliated with UM St. Joseph Medical Center, UM St. Joseph Medical Group, and Ruxton SurgiCenter.
